    Samuel Taylor Coleridge (21 October 1772 – 25 July 1834) was an English poet, literary critic, philosopher and theologian.

    Together with William Wordsworth, he is credited as one of the founders of the Romantic Movement in England and was a member of the Lake Poets.

    Coleridge’s most famous works include The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner, Kubla Khan and Biographia Literaria.

    His critical work on William Shakespeare was very influential and he also helped introduce German idealist philosophy to English-speaking culture.

    Coleridge was a lifelong user of opium, and his health declined massively due to his addiction.
